" I would have to say my favorite part of the writing process is developing the beginning. I really enjoy the freedom of working out the way the world works and what's going to happen in the plot "
"Dragon" By Abby Curry
“Dude we are not asking the dragon for directions.”
“Why not?” he asked, giving me an exhausted look.
“Because where I come from dragons usually bite people's heads off.” I can’t believe he was asking me to do this.
He ignored me and walked over to the dragon, “Hello good sir. May I ask which way the cafeteria is?”
The dragon turned to him and pointed down a hall. “First door on your right. You can’t miss it,” she said in a sweet voice.
“Thank you,” he said as he bowed down. I caught up to him when he started walking down the hall. I still couldn’t believe I was here in this school. It was crazy! I had never seen dragons, gnomes, or any of the creatures before. I felt a lot of pressure. I had to make my village proud; I was going to be the first elf to ever attend Merlin’s School for Gifted Magical Creatures. I was also worried because I had already befriended a halfling who seemed like he liked danger, but right now there was no time to worry. Breakfast was starting in the cafeteria on my first day of school.
