Emimem
Eminem is a popular white rapper who was number #1, 5 times! But is he still popular now?
In 2002 Eminem got his first #1 hit, “Lose Yourself”. "Lose Yourself" is a song from the soundtrack to the 2002 motion picture 8 mile. The song was composed and produced by Eminem, longtime collaborator Jeff Bass, one half of the production duo Bass Brothers, and Luis Resto. The lyrics were written by Eminem. It was released on October 28, 2002 as the lead single from the soundtrack.
His second was “Crack a Bottle” in 2009 "Crack a Bottle" is a song by Eminem, Dr. Dre and 50 cent. The song was released as the lead single from the former's sixth studio album Relapse (2009). On February 12, 2009, the song broke the first week digital sales record with 418,000 downloads, topping the previous record held by "Live Your Life" by T.I. featuring Rihanna. This record was broken again the following week by "Right Round" by Flo Rida. The song won the Grammy award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2010.
He got his third and fourth hit singles not too long after in 2010, “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna. "Not Afraid" is a song by Eminem from his seventh studio album Recovery (2010). It was released as the album's lead single on April 27, 2010, by Interscope Records. "Not Afraid" was first revealed as a single by Eminem via Twitter, after which the song debuted on radio. "Love the Way You Lie" is a song by Eminem featuring the singer Rihanna from Eminem's seventh studio album Recovery (2010). The singer and songwriter Skylar Grey wrote and recorded a demo of the song alongside the producer Alex da Kid when she felt she was in an abusive romantic relationship with the music industry.
He got has fifth and final #1 hit in 2013, “The Monster”. "The Monster" is a song from American rapper Eminem's album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 (2013) featuring a guest appearance from the singer Rihanna. The song was written by Bebe Rexha, Eminem, Aalias, Jon Bellion, Maki Athanasiou, and Frequency, with the latter also handling production. Released on October 29, 2013, as the fourth single from the album, "The Monster" marks the fourth collaboration between Eminem and Rihanna, following "Love the Way You Lie" (2010), its sequel "Love the Way You Lie (Part II)" (2010), and "Numb" (2012), and is a hip-hop and pop song, with lyrics that describe Eminem pondering the negative effects of his fame while Rihanna comes to grips with her inner demons. but that was 10 years ago. If he hasn’t had a #1 hit since 2013 do people still listen to him?
Eminem hasn’t released an album in the past 3 years only releasing singles that have not been considered the best. He is still in the top ten artists on spotify with 2 other rappers, Drake and 21 Savage. Even if he hasn’t released a popular song in a while, people still listen to his old music. Some people have said that his music hasn’t been the same because of his inspiration. When Eminem was making hit songs left and right he had a drive, fame and money. Now that he has it all people say his music isn't the same. Eminem has taken a long break before. During his break in 2005 he was in rehab from overuse of prescription drugs. But in 2009 he came back with his album relapse. If Eminem was able to come back from a 4 year break, why can’t he come back now?
