Tostones: Hispanic Heritage month

This recipe is my interpretation of what my parents taught me. Although the measurements and times aren't the most reliable it's what I got taught as a kid. These are cuban Tostones also known and double-fried green plantain.

Tostones Cubanos

Ingredient:

1) Peel your plantains and cut as if it were a banana; into medium-thick slices.

2) Heat up your oil in a pan and put in the cut plantains

3) Take the plantain out of the oil once it is golden take them out and leave them to cool in another plate

4) Once the plantain is cooled down enough to touch take two paper towels and put a piece of plantain in between.

5) Flatten the plantain with the palm of you hand ( Careful it can be hot!)

6) (This is an optional step) Take your flattened plantain and dip it in salt water (make sure its just a dip! you don't want soggy plantains or the oil to spark up to much)

7) Fry the plantain until it is golden-brown and crispy

8) Season with salt and enjoy!
