According to the Kona Ice Website, Kona Ice was started in 2007 in Northern Kentucky. They try to be more fun and inviting than your average ice cream truck by creating a mascot, (Kona), and using a food truck. They want to give you a good experience eating shaved ice.

Kona Ice is headquartered in Florence, Kentucky, and in March of 2015, they reached 1000 locations! Since it's foundation, Kona Ice has donated 25 million dollars to community-based organiztions.
