Why are cats better than dogs? Cats are independent pets. They can take care of themselves for the most part. Cats are scientifically proven to lower stress and anxiety for humans. Cats are also far more intelligent compared to dogs. 

Cats can clean themselves with occasional baths, while dogs get dirty easily and need constant baths. Cats can also catch pests around the house, and dogs may be able to do the same, but not as efficiently.  They don't take up much space in a home.  They also tend to live longer. Cats also take less training than dogs. 

Many people would argue dogs are better which I can see. Dogs are known as man's best friend. They are better with children and people in general. People tend to get dogs more than cats.   It is all just someone's opinion.
